Things simply exist. Likewise, events simply happen.
We, as humans, place labels on things beyond our understanding. Our judgments (e.g. good or bad) are based on ignorance and emotion.
If we are content, our entire past is necessary and good. If we are unhappy, there is always something to blame. Recognizing the limitations of human understanding helps us separate joyfulness from external events.
By maximizing effort and minimizing expectations (i.e. increasing the surface area of luck), we are actualized.
